Ten years of successful business in East
and Southeast Europe
A good reason to celebrate!

Vorstand des AAC

Vorwort Obmann Ök.-Rat Anton Wagner

The Austrian Agricultural Cluster (AAC) was found in 1988 within the framework of an export promotion program and was co-financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. The Federal Chamber of Commerce was very much engaged to support the Cluster during its start-up period. Primarily it was the intention of the government to organise export cluster platforms in different sectors of the economy to promote theexport to foreign markets.

AAC was founded as an association of the most innovative Austrian producers of agricultural, food processing and renewable energy technologies. The initial marketing strategy is bearing fruit today. The export cluster obviously bet on the right horse in focusing on the emerging countries Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia when starting its activities in the year 2001. Choosing these target markets had two main reasons. First the European Union introduced the subsidy programs for Agriculture and Rural Development SAPARD and IPARD and second, most of the members of the AAC were not represented in these countries at that time. Ten years later in 2011 nearly all AAC-members are successfully represented in these markets either with own subsidiaries or via distribution partners. We think this to be a good reason to celebrate!

During our sometimes stony road to success we have always been assisted friendly and actively by the representatives of the Foreign Trade Offices of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce as well as directly by the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture and its Agricultural Attachés respectively. On the occasion of our 10 years' anniversary we would like to extend our thanks to these organisations for their great job and contribution to the achievements of the AAC.

Most of all we want to thank our clients and business partners for their trust in our technologies and services. In this brochure we have the pleasure to present a few selected examples of best practise projects with important clients in Eastern and Southeast Europe.

We hope that reading this booklet will be interesting and informative for you. We are looking forward to co-operating with our friends and business partners also for the next decennium.
